רפאנו ד' ונרפא

We daven to HaShem “רפאנו ד' ונרפא” Heal us HaShem and we shall be healed.  The פ’s in this phrase are written “soft,” with no dot, as opposed to a “פּ” with a dot which is referred to as חזק-strong.  This is to signify that when HaShem alone is the healer it is painless and effortless, merely by G-d’s word alone.

This is in contrast to the human doctor which the Torah describes in a pasuk in this week’s parsha as “ רפּא ירפּא” with 2 פּ’s signifying that the healing comes through “strong” effort; surgery, foul tasting medicines, etc. and over a long period of time.

A Yid must always remember the power of Tefillah in all circumstances, so that he should be zocheh to a refuah directly min hashamayim.
